I’m Emma Howarth, your contact for dog home boarding in Partington and Carrington. Before arranging stays, I welcomed Digs for Dogs guests into my own family home. After 17 years in primary teaching, I chose to turn that enjoyment of hosting into helping other owners find the right care.
A good match starts with listening. We talk about your dog’s character, exercise, food and bedtime routine, as well as anything they find reassuring. This helps us choose a host family who can offer one-to-one care that fits their needs.
I’ll help you understand each step, including the trial sleepover and our collection and return service. Whether you’re planning a short break or a longer holiday, we’ll confirm the arrangements and costs with you before you book.

What is dog home boarding?
Dog home boarding gives your dog a stay in a family home while you’re away. We match them with a carefully chosen host family who provides one-to-one care, home comforts and the familiar routines they enjoy. It’s a personal alternative to boarding kennels.
Do I get to meet the host family?
Unfortunately, not in person before your dog’s stay. Our host families aren’t running boarding businesses where numerous dogs are housed together. They’re genuine dog lovers who open their homes to one dog at a time, which is why they leave the customer side of things to us.
This allows us to offer your dog calm, personal, one-to-one care in a loving home environment. We carefully vet, insure and license all our host families, and stay in regular contact with them throughout your dog’s stay so they always have support if they need it.
Before your dog stays, we’ll share a full profile of the host family we’ve matched them with, including helpful information about their home and lifestyle. We’ll also give you the opportunity to ask any questions, so you can feel completely comfortable and reassured about your dog’s care.
How do you choose the right host family for my dog?
We start by getting to know your dog - their personality, usual routine, favourite activities and individual needs. This helps us find a host family who will be a comfortable and caring match for them.
Your local Digs for Dogs contact will arrange your dog’s stay and remain available to support you throughout. They may not be the person whose home your dog stays in, but they will carefully oversee the arrangements and make sure everything is in place.
Can my dog have a trial sleepover before their holiday?
Yes. A trial sleepover is part of our home boarding process. It gives your dog time to get to know their host and helps us check that they feel happy and settled before a longer stay. We’ll discuss how it went with you before confirming the next steps.
Can two dogs from the same household stay together?
Yes. We can arrange for two dogs from the same household to stay with the same host family, subject to a suitable match and availability. We’ll get to know both dogs and discuss their routines and individual needs with you.
How do collection and return work?
Collection and return are an important part of our home boarding service. We’ll agree the arrangements with you and transport your dog between your home and their host family. We find that dogs often settle more easily when someone other than their owners drops them off.
