Self Care Week

This week has been Self Care Week, an NHS initiative aimed to encourage people to focus on themselves and act on any changes they need to make to improve their physical and mental wellbeing.

With us working harder than ever before, many of us really need to address our work-life balance and ask what changes we can make for a happier, healthier life.

Lisa from our team did just that when she swopped the corporate life for a new career at Digs for Dogs. Here’s what she has to say:

I started to work for Digs for Dogs on a part-time basis alongside my “real” job as a customer services and financial advisor for clients of the Nationwide Building Society. I absolutely loved my new role from day one and after nearly twenty years of service with the Nationwide, I decided to take a great leap of faith and joined the company full time, working with Debbie.

It was the perfect business opportunity – it combined my love of dogs and my experience in customer services, whilst also giving me time to manage a busy family lifestyle with my three children, husband, two dogs, a cat and a horse!! To be honest, I’m not sure how I fit it all in to a day!! Debbie and I make a great team and we’ve built a great business together, utilising our experience in sales, marketing, and financial management.

Digs for Dogs has given me the opportunity of a lifetime. I have swopped meetings, office politics and tough targets for fresh air, wagging tails and wonderful, likeminded people. Changing careers has been the best form of self-care I have ever taken.
